Juan Fernadez , 6, of the Dominican Republic, goes through his first battery of examines at Mass General Hospital with his mother Juliana. The Rotary Club of Wellesley paid for the two to come to Boston, where Juan will undergo a complicated heart surgery to fix a malfunctioning valve. Without the surgery, doctors say he would not have died before his teen years.
